end of the road

well, we are back in NYC. Italy time, i think its sometime around 1:30 in the morning, so we are a little out of it.

End of Capri was great. The Island is really tough with the tourists - during the day, walking around Capri is like being in Times Square, but its 86 degrees and sunny and the streets are narrow and crooked. On Saturday we rented a private boat and a captain to take us around the island -- we saw the Blue Grotto (packed, but really neat), the Green Grotto (which I swam in!) and the White Grotto. We also went underneath the arch of the one of the three famous rocks at the southeast (?) corner of the island. It was really fun, and we both felt that it gave us a good appreciation of Capri. It is a really beautiful place.

Sunday we killed time until the ferry in the afternoon - we went to an old monestary and the Augustus Gardens, then had our last pizza in Italy. Took the ferry to Naples then the train to Rome and went right to the hotel exhausted. Flew out of Rome early this morning... and just got back a little while ago. Found a nice big roach in the apartment upon our return. Despite that, its good to be home.

Once I have had some sleep, I will post a few pics on here as a preview, as it will take me a while to send out pictures to everyone. Thanks to all of friends and family for reading the blog!!!

xoxo, becky
